As I’ve said before, you do find wonderful people to interview. Andreas seems so full of life and joy.
By the way, your Easter footage is beautiful. I would like to share it with my friend Athena and her husband; I know they would both love seeing it.
This trip to Greece looks truly memorable.

What an inspiration! Just melted. Thank you. Always loved religious icons like these, and seeing the painter in the context of his “other” works and his studio was heart warming. Really makes me want to go to Patmos and paint, drink retsina and enjoy the sunshine in such a spiritually welcoming place. Really something. Loved the image of that small white church/chapel with it’s lovely little cross…says it all…doesn’t it? How simple and heartfelt. Life on a Greek island with divinity and life in mind.

Great Alex and John. Just great!

    Barbara

Thanks so much Barbara. This really is a special place and the lifestyle is much more quiet and simple — in a meaningful way — than ours. I feel privileged to have been able to experience it. (The next time you guys visit I’ll fix you an authentic Greek shish kebob.) XX

What beautiful colors! Does he use gold leaf or what material for the gold? His English is great; are you speaking Greek fluently now?

I so enjoyed the Easter video. I felt that I was there with you. We had used the candles at the Easter Vigil. Enjoy your trip; all is well here.

    love,
    liz

ANDRSEAS KALATZIS, IS A CONTENTED AND HAPPY PERSON, AS HE SAYS, IT IS GOOD THERAPY FOR HIM, I CAN AGREE WITH HIM THERE. HE PAINTS ICONS AT TIMES, AND OTHER SUBJECTS AS HE IS INSPIRED. I BELIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT DIRECTS ALL OUR WORKS, SUCH AS THIS PILGAMAGE YOU ARE ON, SEEKING TRUTH AND THE WORKS AS THEY OCCURED IN THE FIRST CENTURY, AND CONTINUE TO MANAFEST THEMSELFS IN THE AGEAN SEA AREAS.

THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR WONDERFUL EXPERIENCES, I LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR EXCELLENT WORKS.

    QUE DIOS LOS ACOMPANE.

    CON MUCHO AMOR, JUANITA

Thanks Jane, We feel privileged to have had a chance to meet some wonderful, talented and interested people. And the icons are truly inspiring works.

We are on the last stretch of our Pilgrimage, going to Turkey to search out behind the scenes of St. John and The Book of Revelation.

  7. Alex says:

Thanks for the note Liz, it’s always so good to hear from you. Andreas is a talented and sweet guy — and his English is much better than my Greek! XX

    Thanks Anna,
Lately on our trip we have become especially interested in icons…they are so rich and beautiful. We have been asking icon painters to tell us a little of their story, which has turned out to be really interesting. I am working on a brief interview we had with another icon painter in Patmos — a very sweet young woman. Today we are starting our visit to the 7 Cities (Churches) of Revelation, to see if we can make any sense of it.
I hope all is well with you! Much love, Alex
