Dear Fr. Joe, I just finished your series on Human Needs. I particularly appreciated the concept in Part 2 of Personal Dignity, affirmed by hearing that “I am who God loves”. Also, the reminder that we are all a part of the larger system, makes it easier to embrace your assertion in this last video that each one of us is “significant”. I like that term better than “special” and now I know why. Thank you, Devi
Heartfelt THANKS for the prayers being lifted to God for me!
Such prayer touches a whole bunch of NEEDS that make us truly HUMAN when they are fulfilled.
Here are some I have been thinking about and these needs relate to the self, the self that God holds and loves and infuses with His Salvific amazing love that strengthens the spirit to do great things.
THE NEED FOR MEANING AND PURPOSE
THE NEED FOR A SENSE OF USEFULNESS
THE NEED FOR VISION
THE NEED TO HOPE
THE NEED TO SUPPORT IN COPING WITH LOSS THE NEED TO ADAPT TO INCREASING DEPENDENCY AND CHANGE
THE NEED TO TRANSCEND DIFFICULT CIRCUMSTANCES
THE NEED FOR PERSONAL DIGNITY
THE NEED TO EXPRESS FEELINGS
THE NEED TO BE THANKFUL
THE NEED FOR CONTINUITY WITH THE PAST
THE NEED TO ACCEPT AND PREPARE FOR DEATH AND DYING.
May the Lord bless you with his GREAT HEART and the promises that are there in His Heart for us !
